I read this books ages ago but forgot to write a review it. So, I had to go back and skim through it to refresh my memory.

The book is all-in-all a good read (but not a great one) For starters, it felt quite a drag.
The world building was done very well. And the introduction to the whole set up and the troll themselves were the parts I liked. Also, troll-related myths were debunked as the plot moved forward. However, the writing felt simplistic.

Cécile is strong willed girl who gets kidnapped and taken to the hidden underground city of Trollus where she is destined to fulfill a prophecy. I liked her take-no-nonsense attitude and her overall development. Tristan is the handsome-but-salty prince of Trollus, but as we get to know more about him, he is living a life which he didn’t choose for himself, and perhaps Cécile might be able to help them both.

The MC’s (Cécile and Tristan) were well developed and were complete opposites to each other. They love story had a decent progress and story progresses which didn’t make it seem rushed or forced. The side characters were also interesting, and I would like to read more about them.

The story is a bit slow-paced, but when the plot twists came, I was taken by surprise and flew by the last 1/3 of the book.

Overall 3.5 out of 5.

(I remained thoroughly claustrophobic the whole time we were in Trollus)
